OF 10’ LONGITUDINAL SEPARATION WITH MNT
(MAY 1997)
BACKGROUND
•1999 – Reduction of the longitudinal separation to 10
minutes ( Mach number technique) in the oceanic
airspace.
•Oct. 2001 – Unification of the oceanic airspace >>
FIR-AO/ACC-AO.
•RNP 10 - Reduction of the lateral
separation to 50 NM.
•RVSM - Reduction of the vertical separation to
1000 feet.

OBJECTIVES
• To optimize means of communication,
navigation and surveillance, fundamentally

based on satellites, centralized in a single Atlantic ACC

ATC organ (ACC - Atlantic), due to the


peculiar characteristics of the oceanic
airspace. (CPDLC/ ADS/ GNSS)

• ATC Capacity Improvement

• To meet air traffic projected demand for the


EUR/SAM corridor

• Utilization of aleatory routes

Brazil is also fully committed to the new


CNS/ATM systems implementation and is working
towards to reach the related ICAO common goals.

Finally, Brazil wishes to take part in joint


efforts with other countries on the research,
development, industrialization, implementation and
operation of the elements of the new systems.
