Question: AC , BC are diameters of two circles intersect at C and D.

show
that A,D and B are collinear

Answer: Let us assume that AC is the diameter of bigger circle and BC is the
diameter of smaller circle. Both circles intersect at C and D. Let us draw a straight
line from C to D, a line from D to A and from D to B.

∠CDA = 90° (Angle on one side of diameter is always a right angle)

∠CDB = 90° (Same as above)

∠CDA + ∠CDB = 180°

So, A, D and B are collinear, because angles on straight line always add up to 180°.

Question: Two chords AB and CD of a circle intersect at P,if BP=PD. prove

that AC parallel to BD.

Answer: In ∆ DPB,

PD = PB (given)
∠PDB = ∠PBD (angle opposite to equal sides are always equal)----------(i)

PA = PC (two chords divide each other in same ratio)

∠DPB = ∠APC (opposite angles)

∠PAC = ∠PCA (angles opposite to equal sides)-------------(ii)

From (i) and (ii)

∠PAC = ∠PBD

So, AC || BD (alternate angle theorem)
