What is Formula 1?
Highest Class of Single Seater Auto Racing Championship
Sanctioned by The FIA.
Inaugural Season In 1950.
The “Formula” in the title implies to a set of rules to which the
teams & drivers must comply.
Formula 1 has its traditional centre in Europe.
The Formula 1 season consists of races known as Grand Prix
held on purpose built circuits and on public roads.
Two annual World Championships one for the drivers and one
for the constructors.
A Formula 1 race consists of 50-70 laps.

A modern Formula One Car is powered by a 2.4 litre V8
engine positioned behind the driver.
Formula One cars race at high speeds, up to 360 km/h.
The cars are constructed from composites of carbon fibre.
Cost of a Formula 1 car is approximately £150,000

Over the years Formula 1 has turned out to be a big
business opportunity.
Commercialisation by Bernie Eccelestone in the 1970’s.
A Television Viewership of 600mn for each race.
SPONSORSHIP, ticket sales, merchandising, generate a
overall revenue of approx. £680 million.
Lotus Racing was the first team to bring sponsorship to
the sport.
