Factory standard voiteges are 250VAC 3B and 46QVAC 39, To determine the correct AC input voltage, check the controller name plate rating on the drive. It Is located In the lower left inside mounting flange of the drive, Conpare the nane plate Input voltage YLN against the SY3 card voltage settings (wire spring switches), Refer to sec 1,2 & 2.3.1 for location. Only one switch per phase should de closed and should correspond to the YLN rating en the name tag. The standard connections are IIlustrated below: For speci! applications, Jumper CV-U, C¥-V and C¥-W can be cut and @ matching AC input voltage cen be applied to terminals #U, IV, and IW. This voltage must correspond to the voltage ratings of the contro! transtormer and have the correct phase relationshipo with power connections U, ¥, and W, and have no phase shift. These connections allow the power converter to cun at odd voltages which may be required fon special motors or low voltage power conversion applications. (To reverse the motor rotation, two Intertocked moter contactors are required). Those converters operate diractly from the three phase AC line, The thyristor power converter diagram Is Ilustrated below, The phase controlled thyristor pover converter operates by sequeatial ly connecting phases of the AC Tine to the DC motor and controlling the firing of he thyristors. By controlling the firing angle of the thyristors, the OC output veltage can be varied fron zero te full output valtage, Pulse transformers are used to couple the firing pulses tron the control elrcult to the ‘thyristors and to malatain Isctation of the controt circuit fron the power section. The firing pulses are generated by the gate driver circuits and sequenced by the phase angle comeriter cirevits located on the Ragulator board. TRANSFORMERS, AL. Inputs, In atl precision controlled drive systens, feedback from the power converter or motor is compared to the conand input and the resultant ¢ifference is usod te produco a converter output. This is roterred to as a control loop. ALt Typact controllers ut ‘and @ current regulator. Ze two loops to contro! the US moter: a speed regulator The spocd regulator controls the motor speed In response to feedback signals from the motor. Two types of speed feedback are described below: “Acnature Voltage Feedback ~ Over the speed range of 2 OC motor, speed 1s proportional to tha motor voltage, By controlling the motor voltage, 2% to 5 speed regulation can be achieved by the use of armature voltage feedback. There are several drawbacks when using armature voltage foadback wiler contribute to this variation in motor speed. THR losses in the acnature and the armature circuit wiring. These losges can be compensated for by the use of IR compensation (RX! ADJ) . Usually ZF of the motor bate speod raguletion can be achieved. 3B ‘ton-lInearity of motor speed ~ torque curves - This eftect occurs prinarily in ‘shunt wound rotors due to armature reaction. As armature current Increases, the magnetic flei¢ of the arnature Interacts with the apptied field to cause # net reduction In the effective field shown bolow: ‘Variation In motor torque constent (KE), varies with temerature ané Tine voltage. Field excitation érops due to increasing fleld vind resistance end/or varies with ‘the OC supply or the Rotor field. (AC line variations), “Tachometer Feedback - Used to more precisely contro! motor speed, since the tacho- moter output voltage is Independent of motor voltage and current. Typica! specs variation is If or better, depasding on the tachometer used, See Specification Section 1.4, “The Current Regulator - Controls motor torque In response to feedvack signals produced by the current feesback circuit and the control input. In 2 OC motor, the torque output Is directly proportional to tae product of arature currant and the magnetic flold. This, in effect, neans the motor Is 2 OC current to torque converters The current feedback method used in this contre! Is current transformer connected in ‘the AC line to sense the currast flowing in the OC motor. 4.2.2 ENABLE CIRCUITS An onable torning! is provided to enable tne TPy3 control, Terminal 21, when con nected to 2 voltage of #12 to +74, will enable the control. hen open, the controt VIII be disabled, This Is Indicated batow: Ret Drawing Page 58.
