A Comparative Study on the Effect of Distilled, Tap and River Water to
the Growth and Development of the Mongo Plant
I.Back ground of the Study
We all know that Tap water and Distilled Water is cleaner than
River Water. River water comes from the river and we also know that
our river is dirty. We chose this study to know what water can we use
and also to know what water will help the plant grow faster.
II.Statement of the Problem
1. What is the difference in the effect of distilled, tap and river water
to the growth and development of the mongo plant?
1.1 the days it grows
1.2 the color of its leaves
1.3 the number of the leaves
2. Compare the condition of the plant watered with distilled, tap and
river water
Based on our experiment, the can 3 that it is watered w/ river,
the plant don’t grow fast it takes 5 days before the plant grow
while the tap and distilled water are good the plant grow in just 2-3
days.
III. Hypothesis
There is a different effect in the plant when we poured distilled
and tap water there is a small difference on it. When it is tap water the
plant grow and also the distilled but the height of the plant is difference,
but the distilled water grew best
IV. Related Research
A student publishing at the NATIONAL STUDENT
RESEARCH CENTER conducted an experiment in which seeds were
watered with distilled water, tap water and river water. The seeds that
received distilled water grew the best, while those watered with tap
water had fewer leaves and did not grow to as great a height. The seeds
receiving salt water did not sprout.
V. Materials
