Construction Documents – Door and Frame Schedule

To create the door schedule:


1. On the View tab select Schedules, then Schedule/Quantities…

2. Select the Doors category and name the schedule DOOR AND FRAME SCHEDULE.

3. In the Schedule Properties dialog box, select From Room in the available fields.

Change the available fields from


Doors to From Room.

4. Now Add room Number and Name.

Add the Name and Number by


selecting them from the
Available fields on the left and
click on the Add button.

5. Change the available fields selection from ”From Room” to “Doors” and add the Scheduled
fields shown below.

Add these fields in this order.


Use the Move Up and Move
Down options below to sort the
fields if necessary.

6. Now we need to add parameters. Click on the Add Parameter button in the center of the dialog
box and add the following parameters: Door Material, Frame Finish, Hardware. Note that Door
Material and Frame Finish should be grouped under Materials and Finishes. Hardware should
be grouped under Other.

Create the project parameters using
this dialog box. Add the parameter
name (in this case Door Material) and
select Materials and Finshes for this
parameter. Keep all other properties as
default and verify that Instance is
checked.

7. Now sort the parameters using the Move Up and Move Down buttons so the parameters are
sorted as below. Note that “From Room: Name” and “From Room: Number” are there, but are
not visible in the screenshot below.

8. Click OK and now you’ve got a door schedule.


9. Go to the door schedule view and modify it to look like the door schedule on page one of this
handout. The first step is to make all fields capital letters. Rename From Room: Name to
ROOM. Rename Mark to NUMBER. Rename Type Mark to TYPE. Rename Thickness to THK.
Rename Material to MATL, etc.

10. The next step is to Group elements so we can create a header. Highlight the columns you want
to group and click the Group button. Now you can add a header.

11. Layout the schedule so it looks like page 1 in terms of format. You may have more or less
doors.
