This rubric evaluates recorder players on several criteria from holding the instrument correctly to improvising melodies. It rates players from a beginning level of D to an excellent level of A. At the beginning level, players have difficulty holding the recorder, fingering notes, tonguing, and note recognition. At the satisfactory level, players are improving but still hesitate at times. The proficient level means players regularly perform skills correctly with occasional errors. The excellent level signifies players who confidently demonstrate mastery of all techniques.
