    LG WILLIAMS/ESTATE OF LG WILLIAMS, IN ABSENTIA February 18th - March 25, 2010 Super Window Project Kyoto, Japan http://superwindowproject.com “In Absentia” is the second consecutive show of LG Williams at Super Window Project. Although if it may be interpreted as a sequel to his previous exhibition “Closed”, and an extended statement about the “absence or loss of art”— or even a commentary on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, “The Emperors New Clothes”— it is more of a spin on Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous quote “La pittura è cosa mentale”, and, of course, another occasion to have some serious fun. With this seemingly obvious and deceptively simplistic attempt, Williams draws on a long history of absence and the missing object in conceptual art while deliberately twisting it. The show consists of fifteen museum labels displayed on the white walls of the viewing room with spotlights directed at the absent artworks. Each label presents an absent artwork as follows: Artist name, artwork title, year, medium, dimensions, and collection.
