FULSHEAR, TEXAS --(Ammoland.com)- OSP (Optimum Shotgun
Performance) Shooting School, with the American Shooting Centers
(ASC) in Houston, Texas will be hosting FREE instructional seminars in
a new ASC program called “ComeOut2Shoot”.
The next seminar in the series will be held on Saturday, February 19,
2011. The seminar will feature world-renowned shooting instructors Gil
and Vicki Ash.
The seminar is FREE and available to all with required pre-registration.
The event will begin at 7:30am with registration, sign-in until 8:30am,
and the lecture will take place between 8:30am and 10:15am. Come out
and discover the shooting skills you never knew you had, OSP guarantees
it!
The “ComeOut2Shoot” seminar will focus on chokes and loads. Gil and
Vicki will explain not only how chokes work, but when and why to use
which choke and load based on your shooting experience. Participants
will see the actual diameter of the shot cloud from five different chokes,
at five yard increments from five to 50 yards. Clay shooters and hunters
alike will have a better understanding of how to maximize their shotgun
performance-guaranteed. Another topic (time permitting) of instruction
at the“ComeOut2Shoot” seminar will be on mental performance.

The comment period has been extended for the ATF?s proposed
“temporary”, emergency regulation requiring firearms dealers to file
reports every time someone purchases more than one semi-auto long
gun, but that comment period closes this Tuesday, February 15.
The ATF claims the reporting is necessary to combat the flow of firearms
across the border into Mexico, but recent revelations and accusations
raise significant questions about ATF’s motives and the efficacy of such a
reporting requirement.
In what has been dubbed “Project Gunwalker” ATF is accused of
allowing hundreds of AR and AK- type rifles to be sold in questionable
sales and smuggled across the border, including two rifles recovered
after a shootout with bandits on the border in which Border Patrol Agent
Brian Terry was killed.
The implications of the Project Gunwalker scandal are that ATF has
already been receiving significant, voluntary cooperation from gun
dealers in the border states, but that the agency has used that
cooperation more to build support for their Project Gunrunner
interdiction program and justify the need for the emergency reporting
regulation by inflating the numbers of illegally “trafficked” weapons
tracked across the border.
Beyond the complications of Project Gunwalker, the idea of requiring
reporting of multiple long gun sales is clearly in conflict with established

congressional mandates and restrictions on ATF?s authority.
Back in 1968 when the federal Gun Control Act was passed Congress
included a requirement that multiple sales of handguns be reported to
ATF and local law enforcement. At that time, and several times since,
Congress has had the opportunity to include multiple sales of long guns
in the reporting requirements and they have chosen not to do so.
Congress has also passed several resolutions and included language in
laws restricting ATF and other government agencies from instituting any
sort of registration program or collecting detailed information from
firearms sales without a direct connection to a specific criminal
investigation. By attempting to push through this major regulatory
change without congressional approval, ATF is seriously overstepping
their legal authority.

described in FR Doc. 2010-31761 from the 12/17/2010

This regulation is both illegal and unnecessary. ?Further
there is no justification for any “emergency” implementation
as reported by the Washington Post: White House delayed
rule meant to stop gun flow to Mexico, Washington Post,

• The regulation proposed is outside the statutory grant
of authority to record information about multiple sales
of firearms. Title 18 U.S.C. ? 923(g)(3)(A) specifically
grants the authority to collect multiple sale
information on handguns and revolvers. ?Other
firearms are excluded and there is no implied
authority to extend this reporting requirement to rifles
or any other type of firearm.
• FFL” holders are already required by law to respond
to BATFE requests for information on firearms
distribution pursuant to criminal investigations: ?Title
18 U.S.C. ? 923(g)(7).
• The regulation contains no provision for the
destruction of information collected, which establishes
a nationwide registry of “certain types of firearms” as

critically endangered species of birds, mammals, and reptiles.

The Amphibians In Decline Fund addresses threats to frogs, toads,

salamanders, newts, and caecilians that face an unprecedented threat of
extinction. The program awarded $358,482 in grants for 13 projects in
10 countries in Asia, and Central and South America, leveraging
$783,792 in matching funds. These projects target more than 15
endangered amphibian species.

Instructors
Ken Hackathorn has served as a US Army Special Forces Small Arms
Instructor, Gunsite Instructor, and NRA Police Firearms Instructor. He

Special Response Team trainer. Ken has trained US Military Special

Larry Vickers is a decorated US Army Special Forces veteran and
national pistol champion. Mr. Vickers has nearly two decades of special
operations experience with over fifteen spent in 1 SFOD-Delta, with a

special operations accomplishments, his competitive shooting has
yielded a 10th and 9th place finish in the 1993 and 1994 USPSA Limited
Nationals as well as a 1st place finish in CDP class at the 2001 IDPA Mid-
Winter Nationals at Smith & Wesson. Mr. Vickers is a founding member
of IDPA. In addition to being a highly experienced operator and national
pistol champion, Mr. Vickers is also one of the premier 1911 pistolsmiths
in the country and his work has been featured in several firearms
publications and on the cover of American Handgunner. In addition to
all this, Mr. Vickers has served as a consultant and technical expert to
the firearms industry. Mr. Vickers is featured on two new firearms,
tactics, and accessories focused T.V. shows called Tactical Impact and
Tactical Arms.

Schedule
Day One
The 1st day of the class will be spent entirely on the range shooting 1911
specific range drills that highlight the differences of shooting a 1911 vs
other handguns and other various handgun drills. Larry and Ken will be
alternating the primary instructor position between strings.

The 2nd day of the class will be split between the flat range and the Fort
Harmar shoot house. Ken will be handling the shoot house portion

the class on a flat range. At the mid point of the day lunch break the class
will swap instructors.
After a full day on the range the class will travel to the Holiday Inn
Conference Center for a catered dinner and 1911 seminar.
Ken, Larry, and guest speakers John Miller (U.S. Army Marksmanhip
Unit) and Wayne Novak of (Novak’s Inc.) will be hand to discuss the
history of the 1911, modern 1911, suggested modifications, upgrades,
accessories, etc.

Day Three
The third day of the class will be spent in the classroom. In this section
Ken/Larry will teach detailed disassembly, troubleshooting,
recommended and not recommended modifications, and a detailed
inspection of each students 1911. If a problem is detected it will be fixed
on the spot (if possible). This will give students the knowledge and skills
needed to identify and diagnose problems.

Richmond, VA --(Ammoland.com)- Virginia Senate Bill 868,
scheduled for a vote tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Virginia
House Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee, poses
a significant threat to deer, elk and bear populations within the state.
This bill would allow “Whenever deer, elk, or bear are damaging
agriculture operations, as defined in § 3.2-300, the owner or lessee of the
lands on which such damage is done, or his representative, shall request
authorization from the Director or his designee prior to killing such deer,
elk, or bear when they are found upon the land upon which the damages
occurred.
The Director or his designee shall, without undue delay and subject to
subsection F, authorize the owner or his representative to kill such deer,
elk, or bear for a term of 12 months from the date of registration, except
during the open season for each species.”
The current policy calls for proof of damages through an investigation by
the VDGIF before a damage permit is approved to kill the deer or bear.
This policy only includes deer and bear, but this legislation would also
include elk under these provisions.
While sportsmen respect the rights of private landowners, removing this
investigation requirement before a permit is issued to kill these animals
threatens the long term health of the state’s deer, elk, and bear
populations. A sensible solution for this issue is continued oversight
from the wildlife management professionals at the VDGIF that does not
threaten the successful model of wildlife conservation that has provided
quality deer, elk, or bear populations.
This bill would allow any number of animals to be killed outside of
established hunting seasons and at night once a permit was issued, and
claims that these animals were harming agriculture, without VDGIF on-
site verification, would allow unlimited numbers of deer, elk and bear to
be killed.

callers from across the U.S. will converge on Reno, Nev., for the

Preliminary rounds begin March 4 at 9:00 a.m. (PT), and championship
rounds begin March 5 at 9:00 a.m. (PT), at the Reno/Sparks Convention
Center.
The championships are a centerpiece of the Rocky Mountain Elk
Foundation’s annual Elk Camp & Hunting, Fishing and Outdoor Expo.
The four-day convention, March 3-6, 2011, helps raise awareness of elk,
habitat and RMEF conservation initiatives.
Competition will be held in six divisions: professional, men’s, women’s,
natural voice, youth and pee-wee. Amateur-level callers have 30 seconds
to mimic cow elk sounds, followed by bull sounds. Professionals are
required to make specific calls such as barks, whistles and screaming
bugles. Most callers blow across a latex reed placed inside the mouth. In
the natural voice division, however, no reeds are allowed. A variety of
plastic tubes are used like megaphones, giving the sounds realistic
resonance. Judges score each competitor anonymously.
Winners receive prizes and cash ranging from $500 to $2,500.

Manasquan, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- At car shows and swaps
throughout the United States, cars are sold in private sales with no
dealer being involved.
Car shows at which cars are exhibited or offered for sale or exchange
provide a convenient and centralized commercial location where
criminals and other wrongdoers obtain cars without credit background
checks and without records that enable car tracing.
We all know that cars kill and that they are one of the biggest killers in
the US. Cars cause accidents and facilitate crimes. Cars even cause mass
murder and mayhem (like intentionally driving into a crowd). Cars are
a menace that must be tightly controlled.
Some of these cars end up in criminal hands as get-away cars or are used
by murderers, drug dealers or gang-bangers. Some cars are smuggled
into Mexico and used by drug lords there. Convicted felons, mentally
deranged persons, domestic abusers, and aliens unlawfully in the US can
all buy a car at a show. Even those on the terrorist watch list can go to a
car show and buy a car.
Many of these cars have transmissions which are automatic and/or semi-
automatic. At these car shows various accessories are freely bought and
sold, like extended gas tanks, folding seats and even mufflers. One can
also buy “a shoulder thing that goes up,” also known as a safety belt.
Some cars are converted and many are customized. Why would anyone
need such a car? The police are “out-carred” on a daily basis. Many
departments say they need more horsepower, but can’t afford it. How
many must die before we close the car show loophole?
Fortunately, Representative McCarthyism and Senator Lousenburp have
filed bills to require all car transfers at car shows and swaps to go
through a dealer. They have the full support of Mayor Bloomingidiot and
C.M.A.Y.R. (Corrupt Mayors Against Your Rights)
Some of the important features of the bill are as follows:
1. It will insure that a credit background check is run, a record is
made and all paperwork will be done. Dealers can only sell to
customers who have proper identification so a computer check can
be done.
2. “Car event operators” must submit names of all “vendors” to the
FBI, both before and after the show. It does not matter whether
any vendors sold a car. A private citizen going to a car show hoping
to sell or trade a car, but who does not find a buyer and leaves with
his own car, would remain in a “vendor” file with the FBI forever.
3. It would require registration of car shows. This would allow the
authorities to make sure event organizers have no paperwork
violations. It would also allow government agents to question car
owners who gather for purposes other than selling cars.
4. It allows inspection, at a car show, of a show promoter’s or dealer’s

entire business records—including records of transactions that
occurred at other shows or at a dealer’s licensed place of business.
5. It turns casual conversations into “car show sales.” A person could
still agree to sell a car to a friend in a conversation at the local gas
station; but if the same conversation took place at a car show, the
credit check requirement would forever apply to that car. It even
applies to a car that a seller and buyer talk about at a car show, but
don’t have with them.
This should fix the car show loophole. Next to be fixed are the wedding
show loophole, home improvement show loophole, sports memorabilia
show loophole, coin show loophole, flower show loophole, model train
show loophole, doll show loophole, boat show loophole, motorcycle show
loophole, comic book show loophole, horse show loophole, golf show
loophole, and of course the gun show loophole. If it saves just one life it’s
worth it. We have to do it, for the children.

Another Anti-Gun Bill Introduced in New Jersey

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- Assembly Bill 3807, sponsored by
Assemblyman Louis D. Greenwald (D-6) and Assemblyman Annette
Quijano (D-20), has been introduced in the New Jersey Assembly.
If passed, A3807 would reduce the maximum capacity of ammunition
magazines to 10 rounds from 15.
This legislation is an example of yet another attempt to restrict the rights
of law-abiding citizens, while doing nothing to actually combat crime.
As of now, the language for the bill has not been released and a hearing
has not been scheduled, but the NRA will continue to update you on the
status of the legislation as it progresses through the New Jersey General
Assembly.
