"A New ASIMO Comes to Miraikan!"

National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) (Director: Mamoru Mohri, Address: 2-41
Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo) will feature, "A New ASIMO Comes to Miraikan!" as the special event, during the
two days of February 18 (Sat.) and 19 (Sun.).

A new updated version of the ASIMO robot was presented to the world in December 2005, and Miraikan will be
the first venue outside of the Honda Corporation. ASIMO is considered an employee of Miraikan designated to
work as one of Miraikan's interpreters.
In this event, ASIMO that has been employed as an interpreter since 2002 will introduce and provide
explanations relative to the new functions of the new ASIMO.
ASIMO's new functions will be explained and demonstrated that include "intelligent technology" and "level of
freedom"- both key concepts in the world of robotics research.
Four (4) presentations daily will allow visitors to see those new functions, such as the amazing ability to run at
6 km/hr, and to run in a circular pattern. Plus, ASIMO data will be displayed employing images and panels, and
ASIMO researchers will offer lecture meetings on the underlying challenges and technologies used to meet
those challenges.
Japan is one of the world's leaders in robotics, and this exhibition suggests the possibility of a partnership
between humans and humanoid robots. Please join us and meet the new ASIMO, and the researchers behind the
scenes who continually expand the capabilities of robots.
