Things to remember:
1 A clause replaces both the noun and the Wrong: The book that I read it was interesting.
pronoun. Right: The book that I read was interesting.
2 An adjectival clause has to be next to the noun Wrong: The furniture was in the living room, which she moved.
it replaces. Right: The furniture, which she moved, was in the living room.
4 Sometimes it is better to just use an adjective. OK: I have a bed which is very comfortable.
Better: I have a very comfortable bed.
6 That can be used for people and things. The class that she took was useful.
The teacher that I had was from England.
7 Which is used for things. The MOA, which is located at UBC, is having an open house.
2 Cars in Vancouver must pass AirCare. Cars older than 1992 must pass AirCare.
4 Reduce: The woman who is wearing the long sweater looks like a student.
5 Tokyo has over 12 million inhabitants. Tokyo is the capital city of Japan.
10 Fix: The recipe for the cake is in the book which she cooked.
