PROFILE
 Is a chain of super-specialty eye hospital
which boast of state-of-art equipment and
modern facilities
 Started off as a pharmacy chain about 50yrs
back in TN.
 First hospital was started in trichy- the
ABC(Assured Best Care) hospitals
 Now there are 23 centers across various
cities
 Over 300 qualified medical professionals

Scope for improvement
problems:

ØThe accounts department is not fully

computerized
ØCash counter connected to main system and
uses the management software to
generate bills and keeps track of them
ØBut these records are not reconciled with
cash inflows from the pharmacy and
optical shop, and payroll.
ØEmployee salaries and account detais are
managed manually.
Solution:
o One of the best ways to resolve this
problems caused by accounting
decentralization is to require all accounting
transactions to be processed from a
central location ie adopting a Centralized
accounting system.
o accounting errors can be researched at ease
o access to centralized accounting data
eliminates the wait time
o ability to fully automate the elimination of
inter-company transactions

 Medical diagnoses are stored in hard copy

format.
 Medical history and medical diagnoses are
not stored
 Stored in a book given to each patient
 Covers a lot of storage space
 Retrieval of these files for analysis is difficult
as it is in the hands of the patient.





Solution:

o Converting all these data into digital form

o Possible solution is to scan all the records
available.
o Reduces storage space
o Retrieval also becomes easier
Problem

 The patient data is not complete.

 The patient data does not contain medical
history, diagnoses report, purchases made
by the patient in pharmacy or optical shop
 Patient progress through the hospital
process is not tracked

Solution:

 The medical history and diagnoses can be

scanned.
 Purchases made in pharmacy and optical
shop must be stored in the individual
patient database.


 Pharmacy can be upgraded to provide
automated reports
 The high configuration can be used in
Pharmacy and Accounts department. So
the data can be fed into the database with
no loss.
 Software for pharmacy must be updated ,so
that the reports on which item is having
low inventory, due for expiry ,to analyse
sales trend and a call for suppliers all could
be made with the help of these software.

