Amendments

Amendment 15 - Race No Bar to Vote. The United States Constitution prohibits each government in the
United States to prevent a citizen from voting based on that citizen's race, color, or previous condition of
servitude. It was ratified on February 3, 1870.

Amendment 19 - Women's Suffrage. The United States Constitution prohibits each of the states and
the federal government from denying any citizen the right to vote because of that citizen's sex. It was

ratified on August 18, 1920.

Amendment 24 - Poll Tax Barred. The United States Constitution prohibits both Congress and the states
from conditioning the right to vote in federal elections on payment of a poll tax or other types of tax. It

was ratified by the states on January 23, 1964.


Amendment 26 - Voting Age Set to 18 Years. The United States Constitution standardized the voting

age to 18. It was ratified on July 1, 1971.
