Considering his academic capabilities,

budding Oral surgeons. Dr. Nandagopal
biodata, he has a spontaneous sense of
humor, which can break the ice in any
tense situation. Referred to as 'Nandhu'
among his close circles, he loves to
share his wide clinical experiences with
young clinicians. And last but not the
least, he is also renowned for his special
culinary skills which is a secret shared
by every Meenakshian. Meenakshi is
sure to cross-greater hurdles and scale
greater peaks with the help of this
administrative giant.

WORKSHOP ON “FUNCTIONS
OF DEPARTMENTAL HEAD”
Mar.2. Workshop on Functions of the
Departmental Head was organized for
all the Heads of the department of
MMCRI by the Medical Education
Department on 2nd March 2007. The
workshop began at 9.00 AM in the
morning and all the head of the
departments attended the workshop.
Dr. P. Anuradha performed the
invocation and Dr. Nageshkumar G Rao,
Chairman; Medical Education
Department welcomed the gathering.

bouquets to the dignitaries on the dais.
Prof. Dr. M. Ganapathy,Dean, MMCRI
gave details on the need to conduct this
workshop.
Vice Chancellor, Meenakshi University,
Prof. Dr. E. Munirathnam Naidu,
inaugurated the workshop by lighting
the lamp. He congratulated Professor
Rao and his team for organizing this
event, a unique and first of its kind in the
institute. He also recommended that
such workshops must be planned for the
different constituent colleges affiliated
to our university.
A short book authored by Prof Dr. Rao,
on 'Functions of Head of the
Department' was released on the
occasion by Dr. C. M. Nandagopal,
Director, Meenakshi University. The
book stands devoted to Thiru A. N.
Radhakrishnan, Chancellor, Meenakshi
University, was distributed to each
participant. Dr. Naidu appreciated the
sincere efforts of Prof. Rao, in
publishing the book, expressed his good
wishes for the success of the book being
useful to every HOD in running the
department efficiently.

College” by the Vice Chancellor, in a
very simple and lucid manner.

the objective to teach the students about
handling of microscopes, identification
of pathogenic microorganism based on

Remembering our stars...

April 1. The year 2000 saw the advent of one of the most talented and
performing batch of students, the Ignitors batch. Two Ignitors who
entertained us all with their all round talent, exceptional skills, and
goodwill were Dr. D. Suresh and Dr. C. Mohanasundaram. But
tragedy stuck us all when we lost them both to an unexpected sea
accident, on the 4th of March 2007. It is time to remember the
wonderful memories they have left with us to savour for life.

Hailing from Dharmapuri district, ‘Suchu’ or Suresh, is an example to

emulate. He is probably one of the few students of our college who
started working during his student life (as a BPO executive) and had
recently been offered a luring job in Accenture. An event manager par
excellence, top ranked shuttle badminton player, dashing cricketer,
competitive athlete, computer wizard, mobile savvy.....his

(Sep 26, 1981 - Mar 4, 2007) (Jan 14, 1982 - Mar 4, 2007) achievements are endless. ‘Mohana’ or ‘CMS’, is still alive in our
memories for his energetic and pranky smile and native slang. From a
rural background in Gopichettipalayam of Coimbatore district to
nearly starting his own clinic in Chennai, Mohana had come a long way. He is always remembered for his boosts during the vital
volleyball matches, his aggression on the basketball courts, excellent skill in clinical work, and his genuine relation with all his friends.
He was a perfect planner, with aims to become a skilled practitioner in future.

With the tragic loss of Suchu and Mohana, we lost dreamers who showed us life is all about reaching to the sky and giving life your best.
They however live as our stars forever, inspiring us with their illustrious career in such a short span of time.

Mar. Dr. E Munirathnam Naidu, VC,
and Dr.Sivapathasundharam, B,
Registrar, Meenakshi University, has
attended the International Dental Show
at koeln, Germany. The International
Dental Show, the world’s biggest one,
was held at Koeln Messe. It was
attended by about 80000 delegates from
more than 70 countries. 1000 stalls from
various countries exhibiting their
products. More than fifty percentage of
the show exhibits were on implants and
their accessories and the rest were
dominated by CAD CAM, copy milling,
imaging, and sterilization products. It
was really astonishing to see the latest
technologies applied in dental field. VC
has procured a testing machine for
implants, an important gadget in implant
research for our college. The entire show
was organized in such a fantastic way
that no confusion or untoward incidents
to the delegates and the participants.

They were at Zurich on 28th March,
where Dr. Manikandhan joined them. In
Zurich they had meeting with Professor Dr. Sivapathsundharam presenting
Sailer, Director, Cleft Children memento to Prof. Ramachandra Nair
International and with a discussion on
the future projects to be developed at
Meenakshi University. Prof. Sailer has
appreciated our VC for the co-operation
given by Meenakshi Ammal Dental
College and Hospital for the Cleft
Children International. Prof. Sailer has
arranged for a visit to the Research
laboratory of University of Zurich. He
had also arranged for a trip to St Mortiz,
a fantastic portion of snow covered Alps,
through Mrs. Erica Schowob, CEO,

ACADEMIC COUNCIL MEETING
The meeting of the Academic Council of
Meenakshi University was held on
09.03.2007 at the Board Room of the
University. Dr. E. Munirathnam Naidu,
Vice Chancellor, Director, Registrar
(Academic), Controller of Examination,
Academic Officer, Head of Institutions,
Chairman of All Board of Studies and
the Professors nominated by the Vice
Chancellor and Dr. Ramanand Shetty,
Director of Medical Education,
Karnataka State as an Expert Member
attended the Academic Council
Meeting.
P.G. COURSES ADMISSION
The results of All India Level Common
Entrance Examination for admission to
various P.G. Courses Viz. M.D.S., M.
Sc.(N)., and M.P.T. were published and
counselling started.
STARTING OF M. Sc. (Family
Sciences)
Dr. Joseph John, Controller of
Examinations and Dr. Geetha Prakash,
Academic Officer inspected the Science
and Research Foundation of Asia on
Family and Culture, Tambaram to verify
the available infrastructure facilities and
feasibility of starting “M. Sc.
Course in Family Sciences” on 28th
March 2007 under the ambit of
Meenakshi University.
STARTING OF DOCTORATE IN
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
On 27th March 2007, a Meeting was
convened in connection with starting of
Master in Clinical Psychology Course in
Collaboration with University of
Leicester at the Board Room of the
University.
The Meeting was attended by Prof.

PBPsS, the Professor of Clinical
Psychology in the School of
Psychology, University of Leicester
explained to the members the Salient
features of the curriculum etc., about the
Master in Clinical Psychology Course.
Members unanimously accepted to start
the 4 years P.G. Degree Course
consisting of Foundation course in the
first year and after passing the
foundation course the student be
permitted to do the three year Master
Degree Course.
SWIMMING POOL
COMMISSIONED
The Swimming Pool at the Meenakshi
Gardens started functioning with effect
from 16th March 2007. Members can
avail the facility.
