Last month, Syracuse Division President Michael Scott officially announced his retirement due
to personal reasons. Therefore, the board of directors held elections this past Friday, December 4,
2010, to elect his replacement. I am writing to you today as the incoming Syracuse Division President.
Last fiscal year, our chapter donated an outstanding $23,000 to cancer research and I look forward to
the challenge of filling the big shoes he left behind here.

I would like to briefly introduce myself to you. I received my bachelor’s in finance from the
Whittman School of Management at Syracuse University in 2002 and immediately began working for
the American Cancer Society after graduation in Rochester, N.Y. I served as the director of large gifts
& donations for 11 years at the Rochester chapter and have been working at the Syracuse, N.Y. office
for the last six years as the vice president of fundraising development.

I will present my specific plans for the first quarter of 2011 and my general plans for the year of
2011 at the next donor meeting. This meeting will occur at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 in conference room of
our East Syracuse, N.Y. office. Please RSVP to this meeting by Dec. 14 either via e-mail at donors@

concerns you may have about the future direction of the organization.
