EXPERIMENT-1

AIM: To study installation of Oracle9i.

Installation of Oracle9i Database Server is a simple process. It is carried out by three

setups directories. Installation is dependent on the operating system. There is a
different setup for different operating systems.

Steps of Installation:

Step 1:

Go to the folder containing oracle9i setup and then double click the setup icon.
Step 2:

A new window for installation pop-up and start installation. It gives the option of
deintallation of any previously installed oracle product or to show the products. Press
next to go for installation.
Step3:

The next screen asks for about the path from where and the situation at which the
installation is to be done. After locating the right path press NEXT button to move
forward.
Step4:

After above step the next few windows just ask for the type, edition and purpose of
installation. At each step just select the appropriate choice and press next.
Step5:

The new window pop-up asks for the port of transaction which would be responsible for
all transactions at run time.
Step6:

The screen shows with the option for filling the host name. Provide the name “oracle”
which would also be the SID.

And then again press NEXT.

Step7:

This window asks for the path at which the data files will be stored while operating over
it.
Step8:

This step attains the option to opt the number code language in which tha data is to be
stored in the the system. We use default settings for it.
Step9:

Now the screen gives the complete summery of the components of Oracle9i which are
going to be installed on our system.Press INSTALL to insure installation.
Step10:

Now the installation start with copying operation files into the system.
Step11:

After installing the files from part 1 it asks for path of second part and after that the
third part. Just browse the path of next parts and press OK.

Step12:

Now the installation carry on.

Step13:

Finally it configures the network tools and asks for next step. Press Next after the
configuration of all the network tools.
Step14:

Here we come with the completion of the Oracle9i with a query for the installation of
other products. Just press EXIT for the completion of installation.
