Teacher 1: What am I going to do with all of these wires? How am I supposed to hook up this audio equipment
in time for tomorrows lecture? Lord! Input? Right? Left control? I don·t know what to do with this stuff!

Teacher 2: Good afternoon Ms. Twine! I was getting ready to go home for the day. What are you still doing
here?

Teacher 1: Hello Ms. P! I·m sorry. I·m just a little frustrated because I have no idea how I am supposed to hook
up these wires into this subwoofer and I have a big lecture that I have to give tomorrow and I just really don·t
know what to do!

Teacher 2: Okay! Well let me see if I am familiar with your system.Let me see if I am familiar with this make and
model. You·re in luck! I am familiar with this system. You have an Acoustic Authority Subwoofer System. This
type of system is usually a cube shaped box with one or two speakers inside. This is a self-powered unit that
is powered by an external amplifier. It has circuits inside that amplify the sound.

Teacher 2: Are these all the wires that came with your subwoofer system?

Teacher 1: Yes!

Teacher 2: Okay! Well, let·s see what we have here! We have the actual subwoofer. We have 3.5 mm y-Cable
RCA splitters. These splitters are professional grade cables that are used to split a signal from a single RCA
and are required when you have multiple powered amplifiers used. This allows you to split a signal from one
connection to another without losing sound quality. The connectors are color corded for easy installation.
They work well with converting sound from a computer to any other source that uses a stereo RCA output.
Next, you have the red amp-generator cord. This cord supplies powerto the amplifier.Next you have two
3.5mm auxiliary input jacks. The auxiliary inputs enable to connection of a portable audio device to a source
unit through a 3.5mm stereo mini plug through a input jack. It works well with converting sound from a
computer or any other device that outputs in 3.5 to a stereo RCA. Next, we have the AC electrical power plug.
This connects the speaker unit to the power supply. As well as a wired remote control . This remote controls
the bass and volume produced by the speakers. Now that we have all of our materials, we are ready to put your
subwoofer system together.

Teacher 1: Great!

Teacher 2: First, we need to connect the 3.5mm cable splitter RCA jacks into the right and left outputs. The red
cable will plug into the right input and the white cable will plug into the left input. Be sure they are securely in
place. Now, we can plug the red amp generator cord into the outlet labeled ´To Control Boxµ.Once again, make
sure that it is securely inplace. This cord is pretty easy to connect since it is color-coded.Next, we connect
one audio cable cord into the input outlet.Take the AC power cord and plug it into the surge protector power
strip.

Teacher 1: Now, where does that wire go?

Teacher 2: To get the sound to project from your laptop, to the speaker, we need to connect this cord into the
headphone jack of your laptop. We now need to connect the second auxiliary input jack to the headphone input
jack on the computer. You will know you have the right input jack when you see the little headphones.Lastly,
we take the wired remote and press the on/off button. This turns the subwoofer on. If the blue light is
illuminated, then it is powered on correctly. Use the subwoofer bass control dial to turn the bass up or down.
Use the volume control button to turn the volume up or down.
Teacher 1: Well, do you think we are ready to give it a try?

Teacher 2: Yes! Lets give it a try!

Teacher 1: Thank you Ms. P! I·m so thankful that you came by my classroom today. I really didn·t what to do
with all of these wires but you taught me how to set up my subwoofer and what to do and I think I will be ready
for tomorrows presentation.

Teacher 2: I enjoyed helping you and I wish you all the best of luck on your presentation tomorrow. I·m sure
that it will be a great presentation.

Teacher 1: Thank you very much! Teacher 2: Thank you!
