Pagubele enorme produse de alunecările de teren pot fi, însă, reduse.
Obiectivul principal este reducerea pierderilor pe termen lung datorate
acestor calamităţi prin îmbunătăţirea cunoştintelor noastre asupra cauzelor
prabuşirilor de teren precum şi prin propunerea unor strategii de atenuare a
acestora.
