2.2. TPIT personalisation workflow

INtools software is based on ORACLE 7.3 relational database as platform and organised
by modules (as previously provided by –IN-). The relational database doesn’t allow
freezing data; they are always shared within the system tables.
Due to this particular organisation, the workflow has been organised in a way to have
access in editing mode only in one module; the information will be read only for the
remaining modules and for reporting querying tasks.
The workflow personalised in TPIT foresee the following actions, based on the
implementations executed within the STDJB, to be executed in the order described here
below:
(N.B.: data sheets for analyser streams data entry and bulk materials as junction
boxes, cables have not been prepared because the software does not manage these
type of components)

2.2.1. Instrument Index module

Using the structure of the Stdjb, the co-ordinator shall execute the following tasks
before any data entry:

2.2.1.1. Check the instrument types defined as default and eventually update,
modify or delete the useless ones. Each instrument type has been attributed to
a Process function. This definition allows attributing dedicated data using
dedicated editing screens and using the proper data sheet with links to the
database tables.
The default settings are based on ISA conventions as already provided for –IN-
and additional settings as per Leuna project (DIN) have been implemented in
order to cover the needs for such types of projects.

2.2.1.2. Check the instrument type profiles defined as default in order to verify
that the definitions are valid for the actual project.
All the definitions are based on RP-1500 recommendation and on TPIT
standards.
Any different configuration shall be implemented.
Any modification executed in these tables will be propagated to all the tags
defined in the Instrument Index database so all the definitions shall be
prepared before any data entry.

2.2.2. Specification module

Check the data sheet forms if particular needs are necessary for the project.
The default forms (based on ISA contents) have been implemented from the ones
already available in –IN- software.
The same helps and defaults have been inserted as drop-down lists selectable.
Each one of these fields allows editing any string the operator likes to define.
Process data are read only in the spec’s; these data shall be defined in the
process data module in order to obtain one way only data propagation.

W - Mod. 1810/E – TYPE A - Rev. A

Project N° Unit Document Code Serial n° Rev. Sh.

USER MANUAL

The default forms (CV; PSV; FE;) where is possible to execute calculations using
INtools calculation module, have been prepared to show:
- “internal calculation” (using system fields).
– “Vendor calculation” (UDF fields to be manually filled or imported).
– “Both” (to see and print both calculation results).

INtools calculations have been certified for the main items to be calculated.
The results are consistent with calculations coming from vendors and from others
calculation software.

- The results from control valves calculations have been judged good for preliminary
valve sizing (basic or front end).
– The results from safety valves (if vendor catalogue parameters are applied) have
been judged good for preliminary valve sizing (basic or front end). This way of work is
applied in TP Paris. In TPIT the Process Dpt will calculate in any case the safety
valves and issue the relevant results.
– The results from flow elements have been judged good for final sizing and
purchasing. The relevant data sheets have been prepared both for single item
definition and for multi items definition (SEE LIST); in this case just the main data are
to be filled and the bore diameter imposed.
A set of calculation data sheets shall be issued as engineering document in order to
give evidence of the activity executed.

2.2.3. Process data module

The set of unit of measurement cannot be changed; the string shall be selected as
defined within the drop-down list.
In case of process data import from external source the unit of measurement shall be
defined as accepted by the software otherwise the data mismatch error is detected
and the relevant record will not be imported.
Process data could be defined / imported for ”line” or for ”instruments”

2.2.3.1. Process data for line

Importing process data for lines allows attributing line data to instruments if the
line number defined in the instrument index using the same string. This
functionality allows using external software for line calculations and definitions
using the output (line list) as source file for data import.
The same recommendation about the UOM shall apply to this type of import.
Process data for line could be imported from PDS and or LDL in case one or
both software is used to define P&I and line list.
Actually this possibility is under test.

2.2.3.2. Process data for instruments

For each instrument attributed to a process function process data could be
defined or imported from external source.
Process data for analysers are not available within the software.
Instrument process data could be imported from the software Zyqad whenever
the process Dpt uses it.

USER MANUAL

2.2.4. Wiring module

Check the device panel and cables definitions prepared within the STD_UNIT in
order to match with project requirements. The default definitions are based on RP-
1500 and TPIT standards. Any different definition shall be implemented and then
attributed to the instrument type profile.
Any type of device panel could be defined for field or control room instruments and or
cabinet.
Any type of cable definition could be defined in order to match with project and
market requirements.

2.2.5. Loop module

Check the border and blocks prepared as default and attributed to the typical loops
implemented in the STD_UNIT.
Two sets of blocks have been prepared
– one based on ISA conventions.
– one based on DIN conventions (as per Leuna Project).
Two different way of work have been tested:
- The first simulating the definition of all the wiring up to the system (DCS; PLC;)
executed inside INtools.
– The second simulating the definition of the wiring up to the junction box executed
inside INtools and the control room wiring executed by DCS or PLC vendors.
These vendors shall supply all the wiring information’s using one file (DBF format)
with defined structure where each field contains reference to macro’s inside the
predefined blocks.
Any modification of this method of work requires the definition of new file structure
and new blocks.

2.2.6. Data import

INtools allows importing data from external source files with some limitations as
follows:

2.2.6.1. The format and the string definition shall be compatible with the definitions
executed in the instrument type profiles, in the process data UOM, etc.

2.2.6.2. The import could be executed by module or by table.

The import by module is easier but doesn’t allow importing data in more than
one module at time.
The import by table allows importing data to several tables of different modules.
Group of links could be linked and executed together but the operator shall be
skilled enough to know the table priorities in the database tree.
(e.g.: line data will not be imported if previously the line type has not been
imported; the line type identify the piping class in TPIT organisation)

USER MANUAL

The system and project administrator functions are actually covered by the same person due
to the fact that Instrument Dpt co-ordinators have not been trained to cover project
administration tasks.
More then one system administrator could be declared within the software but only one
project administrator could be attributed to the project because the tasks to be executed
require the knowledge of the project status and progress before executing or not some tasks.
For any tasks involving the overall database, the project administrator shall take care that all
the operators lest their connection to the project otherwise certain tasks cannot be executed.
The project administrator shall require to the system administrator the need to activate the
historical function on the project (by default this function is set to off to limit the size of the
database tables).

4.1. PDS / LDL import

Whenever smart P&I and or LDL are used for project engineering, the relevant data could
be imported from the source database.
These functions have been tested simulating data coming from PDS due to the fact that
in TPIT organisation is not allowed to map PDS Oracle tables directly.
PDS is not used as per its own built-in functions but is forced to work in a “personalised”
home made way.
This method doesn’t allow retrieving data from homogeneous fields because the same
symbol is used for several process functions.
One PDS operator (only one people have the proper experience in TPIT) shall run
various programs to collect the information’s in the proper format to be exported to the
interface file with INtools.
Tests have been executed assuming that the data coming from PDS are corrects.
A real simulation from one live project has not been executed.

4.2. Zyqad export / import

When the tag list has been imported from PDS, in function of the data collected from the
lines (if imported) the remaining instruments requiring process data will be addressed to
the process Dpt software.
Zyqad (as PDS) does not manage the unique ID for each record so it has been decided
that INtools will generate and propagate this key field to be used for the uniqueness of
data exchange.
Dedicated export formats have been prepared for data export to Zyqad. Actually the
person of the process Dpt in charge of the development is testing the method to populate
the intermediate files with the data coming from Zyqad database.
When these tests will be completed, due to the fact that the file structure remains
unchanged, the data filled within Zyqad will be imported into INtools.
In principle the data requested to process Dpt are the following:
- In-line Flow instruments.
– Control valves.
– Safety valves.
– Pressure instruments (only alarm settings if line data are imported from LDL).
– Temperature instruments (only alarm settings if line data are imported from LDL).
– Level Instruments (in principle process Dpt issue the vessel data sheets containing all
necessary information’s for the range and alarms definition’s; the interface file will be
used in case any special alarm setting is required).

4.3. Exports
The data available within the database could be used as source for export purpose.
In the STDJB some export reports have been prepared for the tasks already in use with
the software –IN-.
It will be possible to export data to G-mini, REQUI, or any other external database.
The save as function is accessible to any INtools operator; using browsing facilities the
operator can perform any export is required for the project if not already available by
default.

In case P.D. for the lines shall be defined manually, the following steps are to be executed:

1.1. Check the icon LINE

1.2. Define the Line Type

Check the Line Type button; the subsequent screen allows defining a code (TYPE) and a
description of the line type.
Within TP Group organisations this definition shall contain the references of the PIPING
CLASS.

1.3. Select one of the defined line types from the drop-down list beside the line type button.
The buttons of the screen will become actives and it will be possible to add or modify the
lines.
If one line shall be deleted, it shall be done from the Index module following the steps:
Index à Tables à Line numbers à Select Line à DELETE

1.4. Select the line and check the EDIT button.

paragraph) in automatic mode for all IN-LINE instruments not requiring additional specific data;
- imported from ZYQAD in automatic mode (see IMPORT utilities) in case this process tool is used
for the project execution. The import from Zyqad will be possible only if the instrument tag list has
been previously exported to this tool (see EXPORT utilities) in order to obtain the unique ID
generated from INtools useful for all import/export routines.

In case P.D. for the instruments shall be defined manually, the following steps are to be
executed:

3.1. Check the icon Instrument

Within the incoming screen digit the instrument tag number or check the SEARCH button.
Continue to check SEARCH buttons to reach the list of tag numbers then select the item
for which P.D. shall be filled (the screen will show the process function and if data already
exist) (e.g.: 200-FE-001).

When the process data screen appears, answer to the question:

“Do you want to copy data from line?:” à Yes/No.
If the line attributed to the instrument contains line data, they will be transferred to the
instrument. Else the operator shall fill the data manually following the same steps defined
for PD line data.

3.2. Alarm settings

USER MANUAL

1. Introduction

Before beginning to work with the In Tools loop drawing module, the user must obtain some
graphical blocks in another CAD application (such as AutoCAD1 or MICROSTATION), because In
Tools use them to construct the complete loop drawings. Note that it must be paid attention to
correctly choose the insertion point of any block, otherwise the loop drawing generation will be
incorrect. To allow the user to insert the same blocks in many different drawings, In Tools make
use of a certain number of ‘macros’, that will be replacing, during the drawings generation, by the
current project data (tag numbers, revision, and so on).

2. DATA STRUCTURE
The graphic blocks prepared to create loop drawings are stored in the N:\tp_blocks directory,
containing three subdirectories (DIN, ISA and reference). Each subdirectory is divided in three
additional subdirectories: field (field instruments), general (border and logo) and room (control
room components). Within the DIN subdirectory are stored the graphic blocks according to DIN
format; within ISA subdirectory are stored the graphic blocks according to ISA format. Within the
reference subdirectory are inserted all blocks in a specific format (ISA or DIN) to be used as
default for specific project. In function of the needs the project co-ordinators will copy into the
reference subdirectory the blocks to be used for the loop generation. In case several projects
shall generate loops in the same time using different formats, all the blocks will be copied to
separate directory and all references to them changed within the project.

3. BLOCK ASSOCIATION

According to the actual data structure, five block types has been created. Each one contains a
particular class of blocks as follows:

- Border : borders for the drawings in DIN, ISA and Reference format.
- Logo : logos for the drawings in DIN, ISA and Reference format.
- DIN : graphic blocks in DIN format
- ISA : graphic blocks in ISA format
- Reference : graphic blocks in the reference format

The standard job contains a full set of complete loops per each format (ISA; DIN).
The std unit contains loops where graphic blocks has been manually associated as follows:
• All loops using the number “1” as first digit of the numeric part are associated to blocks in DIN
format.
• All loops using the number “2” as first digit of the numeric part are associated to blocks in ISA
format.

1
Warning: because InTools has been projected to work with AUTOCAD 13.0, if the user is working with
AutoCAD 14.0 he must install on his system the file DDELISP.EXE keeping it manually from the AutoCAD
13.0’s files, otherwise InTools will not be able to generate any drawing and then, during the generation,
display a message in witch warn the user that this problem has occurred also remaining on a ‘freeze’ state

USER MANUAL

The user shall define the way to execute the data entry then delete all loops useless and using
the function “Copy Loop” from the Std Unit to the project unit. This way of work allows keeping all
definitions already defined and tested for the reference loops.
As an alternative the user can utilise the default associations between instrument types and
graphic blocks, already implemented. In that case, the user cannot use the definitions provided
within the std unit in order to avoid overriding of the information’s. The std unit in that case shall
be deleted.
In case the std unit is used, the user shall detach all the default blocks from the instrument types.
To obtain maximum flexibility all the associations has been created using the reference blocks
(the reference blocks directory may contain DIN or ISA blocks).
Some differences between DIN and ISA blocks shall be managed during the project life.

4. LIMIT AND LEVEL SWITCH

Limit and level switch are two different instruments using the same graphic block (named
ZSH.dwg). The only difference is the position attributed in the drawing sheet. The level switches
appear in the first three rows from the top of the drawing, while the limit switch appear in the last
three rows.
The blocks: ZSH1.dwg; ZSH2.dwg; ZSH3.dwg; represents level switches.
The blocks: ZSH4.dwg; ZSH5.dwg; ZSH6.dwg; represents limit switches.

5. To insert ‘macro’ in AutoCAD drawings.

the same icon collapses the loop icon to the original situation). With a double click on an
instrument icon, it’s possible to expand the loop manager tree at the third level, where it can be
seen all the blocks connected to each instrument. Note that these blocks are displayed in two
different colours, green or red. Blocks assigned by instrument type are displayed in green, on the
other side blocks assigned manually (see: 15 manually connecting a block to an instrument) are
displayed in red.

15. Manually connecting a block to an instrument.

Block’s manual assignment to an instrument directly in the loop drawing manager, is very simple,
in fact the user only must expand the chosen loop icon at the instrument level, and then must
perform the following actions:
