Implementation of Rukun Negara

The government had taken many steps in implementing the Rukun Negara after it was declared. According to the Deputy Information Minister Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye, the Rukun Negara has been printed on more than 850 million products and the government is targeting to have to Rukun Negara printed on 1 billion products or 50 types of products by end of the year. A Rukun Negara Campaign was launched on the year of 2010 to boost Malaysians awareness on the importance of the national ideology and the appreciation of its philosophy. Besides that, the campaign also calls for companies to print the Rukun Negara on their products. The Rukun Negara was printed on a variety of products including on toothpaste, mineral water bottles, tissue packets, rice packaging, theme park tickets, coffee packaging and plastic bags. This had fulfilled the governments hope which is every Malaysians would see the Rukun Negara everywhere they go. At the 4th of September 2010, a Gardenias Rukun Negara Campaign was launched at the companys manufacturing plant in Shah Alam. Under the campaign, the company printed a minimum of 140 million packaging of all variety of breads under its brand. Companies taking part in the campaign also carried out contests and special promotions on their products as part of the incentives. As the company has a 65% market share of the bread business, more than 17 million Malaysians will be able to read and be reminded if the Rukun Negaras principles on a daily basis. It is also a norm for primary and secondary public schools in Malaysia to recite the pledge weekly during a compulsory assembly. Pledge reading is followed immediately after the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku. Not only in schools, on the 8th of December 2005, the government made reading of the pledge as a must at every official function. Besides that, the government also encourages the organizers of events to include a recitation of the Rukun Negara after the singing of the nation anthem. Of some interest, the Rukun Negara could usually be found behind the cover of every exercise book that is typically used by primary and secondary Malaysian public school students to make sure that our new generations do not forget about the importance and meaning of the Rukun Negara. The government would not forget to encourage schools to take part in contests like Rukun Negara recital, essay writing, debate and elocution to help them to understand the meaning behind the Rukun Negara better.

Conclusion
The tragedy of May 13 which caused hundreds deaths, serious disruptions and dislocations will forever fresh in the mind of people and forever be a dark spot in our history. This tragedy will always remind us the importance of unity and harmony among every Malaysian. The Rukun Negara was declared after the tragedy of May 13 as one of the method used to encourage unity. The Rukun Negara guides every Malaysian towards building a united racial country which is democratic, fair, liberal and scientific without any discrimination among different races. The principles of the Rukun Negara also act as the key to bring peace and harmony to our country. Unity among different races is such important which every country wishes to achieve including Malaysia to ensure our country is strong. Therefore, we should always ensure our new generations understand the meaning of the Rukun Negara so that all Malaysians would work together and live in harmony also to prevent the second racial riot happens.
