Programme

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is a four-month, residential programme, specially designed for faculty members of management education and training institutes. The first FDP was offered in 1979. Since then, the FDP has been continuously modified and re-structured to address emerging developmental needs of management educators. The 32nd FDP was conducted from June 7 to September 25, 2010. The FDP Alumni network has 594 members, including 76 management teachers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia. These members have been contributing significantly to the improvement of the quality of management education. What can the participants expect? The programme simply aims at developing the pedagogical and research skills of the participants. A package of compulsory courses enhances teaching and research capabilities, and a set of elective courses improve the knowledge of the participants in areas of their interest. 33rd FDP: June 6 to September 24, 2011 Learn to Teach and Teach to Learn this is what we have really got from the FDP at IIMA. A clear programme structure, rich content, demanding faculty and ongoing communication with participants is what has made this program an unparalleled experience for each of us. In fact this is what seems to be institutionalised at IIMA in all its programs. The FDP benefits the entire student and teaching community; so I would like to call it not just institution building but also nation building Umesh Dhand (32nd FDP, f10umeshd@iimahd.ernet.in)

Chairperson's Message

The IIMA's Faculty Development Programme is about to enter its thirty-third year. Its 594-strong alumni network is contributing to the professionalization of management education in a significant way. I invite young teachers in management schools who want to develop their pedagogical and management research skills to join the programme. You will find the experience very enriching and rewarding. A special word to the Heads of management schools: by sponsoring your faculty members to the FDP, you are creating a nucleus within your institutions for academic innovation. We look forward to building partnerships with you in this joint quest to enhance the quality of management education.
