This workshop will concentrate solely on the voice of the writer in the “first person” per-
spective, or “in-the-moment”.
By utilizing common formats used in radio drama, each participant will be able to write
their first radio piece. The bonus to this workshop is the addition of recording with sound!
Because radio drama presentations rely heavily on atmospheric sounds and moods, we will
create original soundscapes for recording purposes using our voice, handheld instruments
and found objects.
Each participant will create their own 10-minute radio drama script.
• Dramatic activity and theatre games (group trust exercises, conflict/resolution exercises)
• Original skit, sketch comedy
• Aboriginal tales and legends, and world mythology as a basis for modern storytelling
• Reading plays and character role assignments
• Writing your own radio play
• Listening to a recorded radio play (or portions of)
• Outdoor explorations for creative thought and inspiration
