Purpose: Drawing several different sources into your paper broadens its scope, enriches the content, offers contrasting ideas, and signals your sophistication as a writer. The multi-source essay allows you to show how a variety of opinions enhances the discussion of the topics you have chosen. Essay Prompt: For Essay #3 The task is to analyze the portrayal of a concept using three texts. Each text should be a different genre (movie, song, lecture, interview, magazine article, advertisement etc...)As discussed in class, your idea should be abstract such as (equality, freedom, discriminations, fear etc..) Suggestions and Treatment: Rather than searching for a quotation or something to paraphrase during the composition stage, you are encouraged to examine a number of likely sources and summarize each one for its central issue. Once you have a fairly complete set of summaries, you can chart them into categories, which in effect build or help to build the design of the paper. That is, several issues will emerge, and then you may choose which in effect is best to base your thesis statement and pose your essay question around. Format Please follow MLA guidelines; double-spaced; 12 point TNR or Arial font. The minimum length for text in this project is two complete pages of text. In this assignment, there are three major parts: Your paper need to be based on a solid thesis. Your paper needs to address a conclusion that you have formed from the three sources that you have chosen. You must have direct quotations in the text and cite properly as per MLA from each of the sources used. Visuals do not count towards the length requirement. Things to consider:-Decide on a topic early, this way, if you need to change it, you can do so before it becomes too late .Of course you decide your thesis first, but think of more than two reasons. Think of a lot of them and then pick the best - you don't want to be stuck with a reason that's not working simply because it's the first one you thought of. -You must use all your sources in your paper (whether direct quotes, paraphrases, or both) - this is "Works Cited -Use transitions -This never changes: Remember that everything must be connected with logical reasoning and explanation, from support to reason to argument/thesis.
