LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this module the students will be able to

1. explain the pathophysiology of fever


2. define fever and pyrexia of unknown origin
3. identify the consequences of fever
4. recognize the importance of good patient-doctor relationship
5. identify the differential diagnosis of pyrexia of unknown origin
6. discuss possible causes of pyrexia of unknown origin with reference to Saudi
Arabia

7. identify febrile patients who require special attention and emergency cases
8. recommend non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic management of pyrexia of
unknown origin
9. determine when a patient with fever should be referred to a different levels of
heal th care

10. identify the preventive measures for some causes of fever

11. identify clinical manifestations, complications and manag:ment of Brucellosis


12. recognize the cost of some investigations and medications
13. recognize the importance of holistic approach to patient health problems
