1)there are totally 45 houses.


assuming that there are totally more than 10 houses atleast,i went
about the puzzle this way.
as the older one starts with 1,by the time he completes 8 plaques
the younger would have completed 5.then considering the 2 digit nos.
for the older we can go about it this way to get the same number of
plaques.
older younger
8 5
10.5 7.5
12.5 10
14.5 12.5
16.5 15
18.5 17.5
20.5 20
22.5 22.5

at this point the no. of plaques becomes equal.so adding them or
doubling 22.5 we get 45 which is the number of houses.

so the answer is 45 houses.

2)there are 4 chances out of 12 for the fly to sit.they are as follows
