ESW* - Electroslag Welding - is a method of strip cladding, but differs from SAW strip cladding in that the arc is created
between the electrode and the work piece. The welding flux that is put into the joint melts and a slag pool is produced,
which then increases in depth. When the temperature of the slag and its conductive capacity thereby increases, the arc is
extinguished and the welding current is conducted via the molten slag where the necessary welding energy is produced
through resistance. This method can be used for joining thicknesses of 25 mm (1 in.) and above.
* Contact ESAB for Options & Accessories and Technical Data for the ESW Welding Head.

A6-MHW VERSION B - comes complete with the tilting control system for the connection with the turning rolls. This
makes it possible to synchronize the welding movement of the torch with the clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation of
the turning rolls in order to get the joint always in a flat position along the whole circumference.
For more information on the standard A6-MHW or the B version, please contact ESAB.

The manipulators are divided into three different sizes 300, 460 and 600. These sizes are the throat dimensions of the
boom in millimeters. Each size has a corresponding column. The different sizes are not only limited in where it can fit,
but also how far the boom can extend and how much load that can be put on.
Performance Categories
68
applied automation
Basic station 2
Basic station 1 with the added advantages of a
side boom carriage with welding equipment
Boom is movable and simultaneous welding can
be achieved with two heads
Application: vessels and pipes or conical girders
and box profiles
Basic station 3
Welding station with horizontally fixed boom and is
equipped with two side boom carriages supporting
welding equipment on same side of boom
Weld simultaneously with two heads
Application: straight and conical girders, box profiles,
beams, stiffeners and vessels
Basic station 4
Welding station with horizontally fixed boom
featuring double track with boom carriages
supporting welding equipment on both sides of the
boom
Simultaneous welding operation with two heads as
standard
Application: containers, truck platform bodies, box
girders, beams, stiffener section and joining of
plates and sections

special applications
High productivity welding with a deposition rate of up to
40 Kg/hr with a tandem twin submerged-arc welding head is
possible. The process is specially designed for production
of wind towers where benefits for working in narrow weld
preparations with reduced weld volumes can be achieved.
This combination will result in dramatically reduced welding
time and increased productivity.
A dedicated wire and flux combination can eliminate
major obstacles such as reduced impact strength in the weld,
and poor slag release in narrow joints. Spoolarc 81 or OK
Autrod 12.22 wire and OK 10.72 flux from ESAB gives good
impact strength at -50oC (-58oF), to satisfy offshore wind tower
applications.
76
special applications
Longitudinal seams are then externally welded with the submerged arc
welding process using a Column & Boom
The Column & Boom uses an A6 submerged arc welding head and A2-A6
PEH process controller
High deposition rates can be achieved with options such as twin wire,
synergic cold wire, flux feed and recovery and large wire reels
The operator can control the process from the ground and monitor the
weld through seam tracking and video cameras
The seams are welded internally using the Column & Boom
Shells are fitted together using hydraulic fit-up rolls or special rounding jig
Sections are tack welded
Joining the tower sections is done with the Column & Boom using
submerged arc welding
The turning rolls or head & tailstock positioners rotate the sections while
the welding head follows the seam from the top - external circumferential
welding

The ESAB Frametrac is used for automatic welding of the door frame,
using the MIG welding process
The tractor is specially designed for travelling along the door frame

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is based on the principal of obtaining a sufficiently high temperature and pressure to join
two components together by using a rotating tool, which under high pressure, moves along the joint and thereby creates
a weld.

Among the many features to be found in ESAB cutting
systems are heavy-duty structural designs, rack-and-pinion
coordinate drives, advanced electronic controls and a wide array
of processes such as: oxy-fuel gas, plasma systems, waterjet
systems, laser systems, plate marking, routing and drilling.
From blueprint to shipment, every piece of equipment
undergoes rigid quality control procedures. Detailed examination
of component parts, specification checks and operational
testing result in equipment of the highest quality and expert
craftsmanship. Because of this, product performance is
unsurpassed.
Oxy-fuel Cutting
Commonly used for cutting steel with thickness greater than 25 mm (1 in.) and
can cut very thick material up to 500 mm (20 in.)
Provides straight cut face and minimal clean-up
For use only on carbon steel - will not cut through aluminum, stainless steel,
brass, or copper
Ideal for multi-torch applications
Oxy-beveling is available
Conventional Plasma
For cutting a variety of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum,
brass, and copper
Cuts much faster than oxy-fuel or waterjet cutting, particularly on thin materials
May leave small bevel angle on cut face
Creates smaller heat affected zone for minimal warping
Generally suited for plate thickness of 25 mm (1 in.) or less
Ideal for multi-torch applications
Plasma beveling is available
