Analysis

Our last experiment was about Detection of Microwave Signals, this will
familiarize the group with the operation of a crystal detector operating in the square-law
region. Also we will be able to plot the sensitivity curve of a crystal detector and evaluate
its tangential sensitivity.
In theory microwave signals are detected by converting the microwave signal to
dc current or voltage whose amplitude is a function of the amplitude of the microwave
signal. In the experiment we use a crystal oscillator connected to the oscilloscope to
detect the microwave input signal. A crystal detector is a type of diode rectifier. By
obtaining the detected voltage from the oscilloscope with the delivered power against the
position of the blade in the last experiment we were able to graph the crystal detector
sensitivity curve. By adding 60db amplifier we can now get the tangential sensitivity of
the crystal detector.

Conclusion

In the last experiment the group has its troubles in getting the delivered power
data because we learned in the last experiment that our set-up was not the same in the
present experiment, so the group had to redo delivered power measurement to finish the
experiment. The experiment were not that easy compared to other experiment, the group
was challenged in doing the experiment. But overall we were able to meet the objectives
which was to familiarize ourselves with the operation of the crystal detector, determining
its sensitivity curve and tangential sensitivity.
