REVIEW OF LITERATURE

1. A descriptive study was conducted to assess the risk factors of upper respiratory
tract infections among under five children in selected rural areas of west Jaya . 300
subject were selected by cluster sampling . Data were collected from the mothers by
interview technique .The result of the study showed that the prevalence of respiratory
tract infection as 39.4 %and it was common in children with low immunization status
.They recommented the need of health education with regard to respiratory tract
infections specially in rural areas

2.A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of health education on the prevalence
of ATI of the children among the mothers in selected areas of Haoilai,Kayseri.They had
selected 60 children for the control group and 60 children for the experimental group by
convenient sampling.The children in both groups were checked for symptoms before and
after intervention . The intervention consist of 30 minutes of face to face education of
mothers regarding ARI prevention and treatment .The result of the study showed that
prevalence of ARTI decreased from 49.9% to 38.6%in control group .Significant
difference in the experimental group indicated the effectivenessof health education.
