“Be Strong and Courageous!

”
Joshua 1:1-9
.

We are to be strong and courageous as we take the promise God

has given us even if it may seem scary, weird, and unknown.

Joshua 1:1-2

A new beginning
1. Moses is dead. 40 years of relationship over.
2. Assistant (minister) (servant).

Faithful with the little things (Lk.19 ten, five, nothing)

The LORD tells Joshua to get to work.

1. Joshua’s fears.
2. Church plant.
3. Too many responsibilities.
4. I don’t know if I can do the job?

Don’t get caught up in past history! Change is good! Reflecting on

the past and living in it is two different things.

They are symbolic

1. Moses- the law.
2. Joshua- Christ.

We have read the Word and know the Word. (How to live)

Now it’s time to step into the power of the Word. (The Holy Spirit)

Joshua 1:3-4
I promise you, God keeps his promises!
1. This land was promised back in Genesis 15 (660 years ago)
 2. Moses’ promise given to Joshua
3. We have Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17

Are we minimizing God’s promises?

1. 40 years earlier 12 spies were sent into Canaan.
2. 2 had great reports and 10 had good reports with but.

Are we going to be a generation that minimizes the LORD’S

PROMISE?

Joshua 1:5

Victory is guaranteed to those who believe.

1. No one or thing will be able to stand against you.
2. God described the land the Israelite was to take. (warriors)
3. We have a description of the land we are to take. (Society)

Mark 16:15-18

Gang we are to take the world for Jesus. How?

With the Holy Spirit working in and threw us.

Signs will follow the believer, demon cast out, tongues, safety, and
healing will take place this is the witness of the Holy Spirit that
Jesus Christ is Lord. Amen!

Joshua 1:6-9

Be STRONG and COURAGEOUS

1. Joshua is being told to be bold in God. (encouragement)
2. Have confidence in Me. (God)
3. Lead My people to My promises.
Be STRONG and VERY COURAGEOUS
1. Stand firm in My promise.
2. Don’t weaver according to circumstances. (trust Me)

Obey the laws

1. We still need to follow God’s law.
2. Not the ceremonial part but the moral part.
3. Study this Book. Meditate day and night and obey it.
4. Only way to be successful.

Be STRONG and COUREGOUS

1. Strong command.
2. Fear not I am with you.

The first time the Lord told Joshua to be Strong and Courageous
should have been good enough.

The Lord is asking us today to be Strong and Courageous as we

claim the promise of the Holy Spirit.
