functions and kinds of negotiable instrument; construction of ambiguous instrument; forgery and its effect; consideration; accommodation party; manner and consequences of transfer of instruments; striking out endorsements; requisites of holder in due course; defense of the parties; discharge of negotiable instruments and the parties secondarily liable, liabilities of the parties, effects of alteration; and other kinds of instruments such as promissory notes and bills of exchange. VI. Course Rationale essential to know : Real life situations in business organizations expose us to different types of negotiable instruments. Therefore, it is the discussion of topics on negotiability o0f the instruments, forgery and its effect, rights of the holders, liabilities f the parties and kinds of instruments. VII. Course Objectives A. General Objective : At the end of the course, the students are expected to interpret the implications of the law on negotiable instruments to day-to-day living.

Specific Objectives: Cognitive : know the meaning and nature of negotiable instruments; identify the rights and liabilities of the holders; explain how liabilities for negotiable instruments are discharged; analyze the effects of alteration on negotiable instruments. : : Inculcate among the students the value of honesty and integrity in applying the law on negotiable instruments.
