PURPOSE In the introductory paragraph of the report, under the main (functional) heading Purpose, describe the interview. Start with a statement of purpose, explaining the purpose of the report. Then, provide your interviewees name, position, and a brief explanation for your choice (of interviewee). Next, give the time, date, and location of your interview. FINDINGS Under the main heading Findings, using your five best questions as subheadings (talking heads), provide your interviewees answers to your questions. Be sure that your headings are parallel and that you use indirect speech (Professor Smith told me that he enjoyed his university days. . .) not direct quotations (I enjoyed my university days.). Could you describe your career path? (or if you are interviewing a co-op student ask: Why did you chose this course of study?) Professor Smith began his post-secondary education in 1971at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, where he attained his B.Sc. in Physics. In 1975, he went to the University of Toronto, where he completed his Masters Degree in . . . He said that he really enjoyed his university days. . . SUMMARY Conclude your report by summarizing your reaction to the interview. Was the interview a valuable experience? Why or why not? What was the most surprising piece of information you learned? Has the interview changed your career goal?
