Guided Reading Give explicit instruction to students at an appropriate level Literature Circles Discuss book in depth Writing Mini Lesson Teaching students about figurative language, similes and metaphors. Independent Writing Students write independently and silently on their writing based off of the writing mini lesson about figurative language, similes and metaphors.

Wednesday: 9:00-9:15 am Interactive Read Aloud Introduce book and author (Hernan Cortes by Trish Kline) Informal text Learn new vocabulary Reading Mini Lesson Strategy and skill about sequencing Language and Word Study Word study based off words in the Hernan Cortes text. Using a dictionary to define the words and discover synonyms and antonyms.
