Lotus flowers in the Suan Mokh Spiritual Theatre

I'm told this painting depicts Guatama the Buddha after awakening enlightened, and wanting to return to Nirvana. But he considered all the lotus flowers in their different stages, working towards enlightenment themselves, and he decided to work with them instead. One of the fantastic pieces collected in Suan Mokh's Spiritual Theatre. Despite being buried in a dark corner, this is my faveourite piece in the Theatre.
