Question of: Rising food prices Sponsor: Romania Co-submitters: ECOSOC Committee, Deeply convinced that rising food

is not a solution for getting more money from poor people and from middle class, Alarmed by the expenditure budget which is 710 lei or 150 euros per month including only the main products and it is overtaken by the minimum wage in the economy, Observing that the foodstuffs such as vegetables, fruits, cereals are import from developed countries and brought in Romanian supermarkets, Nothing with regret that products made in Romania are avoided by its people, Nothing with satisfaction that foodstuffs which are export are appreciated by people from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, UK and represent 6% of our exports (1,5 billions euros), Fully alarmed that Romanian products are not always sold and the producers need to throw them so the economy will lose important money, Realizing that rising food prices will push people to buy lower quality food, to eat from fast foods and their heath will be influenced in a bad way, Affirming that products which are important are expensive than the local ones because of the duties, 1. Supports reducing V.A.T. from 24% to 5% only for the foodstuffs;

2. Hopes that the minimum wage will be increased with at least 30%; 3. Calls for authorities to help producers to bring their products into supermarkets, but all foodstuffs from import will not disappear and people will be able to choose; 4. Requests informing people about the good quality of local products and to eliminate the prejudice by advertising; 5. Recommends making campaigns to inform people about fast foods negative aspects by the doctors; 6. Asks the authorities to give the producers more funding from the European Union; 7. Express its hope that authorities will help the producers to access better the founds allocated to Romania by European Union for developing their business.
