Circuit Explanation: Below I will attempt to explain the workings of the signalling circuits in the document set RSBS

194-196. Before Analysing Drawing 194, drawings 195 and 196 first needs to be examined because its operation is part of drawing 194 Drawings 195 and 196 are both different machines in the same state, i.e. a point and frog. In drawing 195, called point, the circuit is in its normal state of operation, and cant be used to energise and reenergise subsequent relays found in drawing 194 because relay 27NKPR contacts close when it is deenergised; when relays 27NKR and 27FNKR are energised, relay 27NKPR will be energised, causing the contacts to remain open. In drawing 195, a reverse state of operation is considered , when relay 27NKR is disconnected ( open circuited) Relay 27RKR is then connected by connecting terminals 9.1-9.2 and 9.5-9.6 The terminals B24 and N24 form part of the power supply and grounding terminal which is then connected to a surge protector to complete the circuit; The same principal can be applied to the frog machine where the relay 27FNKR is off, and the relay 27frkr is on, where the power supply along with the surge protection id used to complete the circuit. Terminals 8.6-8.5 and 8.28.1 are now connected. In both cases, the appropriate symbols for relays are used which are used to indicate if the relay is open or closed. Drawing 194 can now be analysed. Beginning with the single line diagram on the top left; as it stands in its normal state, the first 2 relays, 27NKR and 27fnkr will energise, hence energising relay 27nkpr. Note; relay 27nkpr needs to be denergised for the relays contact to be made. When relay 27nkpr has its contacts not made, this means that the track will appear vacant. When this is the case, a green signal will be used, and is therefore not a failsafe method of operation. For the track to appear occupied, Relay 27nkpr will need to be denergised as its contacts are only made when that occurs. For relay 27NKPR to be denergised, relays 27NKR and 27FNKR need to have its contacts open successively. When the track appears to be occupied, a red signal will be present, and is also a failsafe mode of operation it will prevent a train from passing through a section of track that has not been constructed.
