To sir/madam, I m writing to you to tell you about the nervous system and its job on the human body, what it does how dose it work. The CNS is made up from the brain and the spinal cord, the brain is what makes you breath move digest. Cerebellum is a part of the brain that allows you to balance and controls your posture. Nerves out side the CNS are know to be called peripheral nervous system these nerves tell the brain that s if something is hot or cold or painful. As soon as your hand would touch a piece of ice the nerves of the peripheral system would send a message saying its cold. Motor neurones are made up of 3 areas. 1. The cell body containing the nucleus and mitochondria. 2. The dendrites which are highly branched extensions of the cytoplasm extending from the cell body within the grey matter of the spinal cord. 3. The axon, this is the long body of the motor neurone that emerges from the spinal cord and its main function is the transmission of nerve impulses along the myelin sheath. Structure Alpha motor neurons are large lower motor neurons of the brainstem and spinal cord. The innervate extradural muscle fibbers of skeletal muscle and are directly responsible for initiating their contraction. Alpha motor neurons are distinct from gamma motor neurons, which innervate intramural muscle fibbers of muscle spindles. Gradation of contraction Muscle fibber generates tension through the action of actin and myosin cross-bridge cycling. While under tension, the muscle may lengthen, shorten, or remain the same. Although the term contraction implies shortening, when referring to the muscular system, it means muscle fibbers generating tension with the help of motor neurons (the terms twitch tension, twitch force, and fibber contraction are also used). I hope you will learn from this short letter about the nervous system Yours sincerely George Bean
