and Ferromagnetic Materials

CARD 3

Classify the materials in the box according to what level of attraction magnetic flux can exhibit either Paramagnetic or Ferromagnetic or Diamagnetic.

Ferromagnetism - exhibit extremely high magnetic permeability. This creates a magnetic field whether it is placed next to magnetic material or non-magnetic material. Paramagnetism - kind of magnetism characteristic of materials weakly attracted by a strong magnet. Paramagnet doesn t have a magnetic field on its own. It only become

magnetic when placed inside magnetic fields.

Diamagnetism - Diamagnetic substances show no visible reaction to the presence of a magnetic field, because the electrons in their atoms are spinning in equal numbers in opposite directions. All materials are subject to a level of flux, either to a lesser or greater degree. Ferromagnetic objects produce a persistent magnetic field on their own, while other elements produce almost none or require exposure to an electrical field to become magnetic. Depending on the level of attraction to the magnetic field, the magnetic flux can exhibit either paramagnetism, attraction, or diamagnetism, repulsion. Magnetic flux is the number of magnetic field lines passing through a surface placed in a magnetic field.
