So I was reading Thisday Newspaper yesterday and they had done a poll both for the Governorship Elections

and the Presidential Elections. The poll as most polls are was a result of sampling from the populace and hence might not be hundred percent accurate. Still, the polls predicted that in the Governorship Election the PDP was going to lose some states and for probably the first time in our democracy we face the prospect of having more state being controlled by the Opposition (Combined) than PDP. In addition to losing states, the PDP is going to lose positions all the way down to Local Government Chairs, to Senators and House of Reps. In many of these cases, The PDP will still hold a majority but a lessened one nonetheless. Of course, this is all based on a situation where the elections are competent and free from corruption and rigging. I will refrain from using free and fair because frankly I m tired of hearing the same refrain from everybody and their third cousin. Why is this even important? Apart from the loss of positions by the ruling party being a sign of general dissatisfaction by the people of Nigeria of the state of things in the country.
