Campus Police: Violation Citation # 47709 September 9, 2011 Please consider this a formal request of appeal for citation

# 47709. Allow me to explain my situation. I am a non-traditional student and I live the Belmont area of Gaston County. Since the start of the fall 2011 semester I have tried several different variations of my morning routine to ensure a smooth start to my familys morning. Allow me to explain. This is my first semester having an 8:00am classes. I leave my home in the cited vehicle (Chevrolet Suburban) on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:50am so I am able to drop my 3 children, under 8 years old and still in car seats, at their school in Lowell at 7:15am prior to making the drive to the Queens campus. On September 8th I decided not return back to my home in Belmont and change cars (to the registered Ford Explorer) before driving to Queens, because the last time I changed cars I was late for my 8:00 am class. With my wife having to be at her place of employment at 8:00am in Mooresville, it is left to me to ensure our children arrive at school. There is no way I would be able to further my undergraduate degree without her employment. We are in the process of working out our car seat situation so I will not be in violation of the parking rules. I have enjoyed Queens University for less than a year and was not aware that permits were required to park on a city of Charlotte public maintained street. I do not remember seeing any signs posted saying that Queens Parking Permits are required for public city street parking. Thank you for considering my request and be assured I am making arrangements to not violate any parking violations in the future.
