Operational Leadership : GROUP-6

Operational Leadership is about achieving goals as a matter of relationship integrity to fulfill commitments that nurture long-term relationships with all stakeholders. It is also to identify key risk factors that affect individual and team performance. Operational Leaders create and interpret policies and procedures, set standards and decide on rewards. Operational leadership in a manufacturing setup might focus on production efficiencies, quality improvements, variable cost reduction, ease of manufacturing etc. An operational leader is someone who sees how the individual elements of an organization fit together and work to create the larger outcome. Traditional view of leadership looks at business in isolated verticals. This is the primary obstacle to improving operational performance. Whereas, operational leadership focuses more on viewing businesses from the perspective of the customer and then the company. Operational leadership is by definition designed to manage the very best return from the current business. Change Leadership : Its mainly about leading & managing the change. The most important task in Change Leadership is what effects it would be having on the current functioning of the Organization as whole, that means taking into consideration the bigger picture. It comprises of several factors that include many external factors, organization culture, systems in practice, leadership practices, etc. Basically there are three channels through which change flows: Monologue, Dialogue & Background. Content Leadership : Its about how people direction their, organizational or teams or team s growth. Its like thought leadership in which the thought process of the leader influences or sets the direction of the organization. It depends on a lot of factors like the expressiveness, credibility, personality of the leader. The Team came up with relevant examples, most relevant was that of Steve Jobs. Also, for developing Content Leadership, its very important to Develop the Expertise in a particular field & more importantly to ensure that the Expertise is used.
