TRANSIT MUNDUS PIERRE DE RONSARD

The whole presentation tackled Pierre De Ronsards poem titled Transit Mundus. It is a French narrative poem which is written using the alexandrine meter also known as hexameter. The title Transit Mundus means passes the world basing from the verse John 2:17 The world passeth away and lust thereof or Mundus transit et concuscpiscentia in French. Its title can be related to the poem as a whole because it discusses experience, passing of time and aging which is not much of an adventure. It also talks about humanity, age, time, world in either internal or external passing in general. The tone of the poem used by Ronsard is gloomy. It is probably written during his dying age. On verse one, the image of winter symbolizes time or season which comes and go. On the other hand,w snow represents loneliness in the past 56 years of Ronsards life. He wants to rest and give farewell to the life he lived. The second verse reflects his experiences of grief, pain, joy and sadness. He also mentioned his role and purpose which he has accomplished in his life while wearing his own mask in disguise of his age. His age doesnt necessarily reflect his being; only what he has done. He also shared that he have met different kinds of people, from low class to high class. On the latter part of Transit Mundus, he shared his perception about seeing France in its dying days because of religion wars that almost tear the nation apart. Ronsard also talks about fate and fortune. It is like people are just relying on luck and letting things happen as it do happen. Lastly, the parting verse of the poem talks about the people of France who are having fun while Ronsard is alone and is about to take his eternal rest.
