1 FOREWORD
This document shows the way to access or create a drawing file (CatDrawing) and documentation existing thereof. When a CatDrawing is created, it is empty and it will received information from space files (V4 models, CatParts, CatProducts, etc.). Both files, space and drawing, will be necessarily y open in order to transmit information from one to the other. Drawing tools (Catia V5 drawing module) will permit us to obtain: Projected geometry of solids to document, that is, the necessary to views for a geometric definition. Dimension these views Creation of every type of texts and notes. Include drawing detail so they are created in the model as if they are obtained from a library. Paper print of CatDrawings, that is, release of plotters.

2 CREATE OR OPE N A DRAWING FILE

A drawing file will be named CatDrawing. It can be done using four different ways: Start Menu: create a new file. File Menu: accessing to an existing one and two different ways to create a new one. Workbench toolbar: create a new file. Standard toolbar: create a new file.

Whenever a new CatDrawing is created, it shall be done with a new single drawing sheet (paper CatDrawing representation). In these cases, it will appear New Drawing window allowing definition of characteristics of the drawing sheet and also creation of it:

4 TREE OF SPECIF ICATIONS

Three levels of nodes appear in the tree of specifications of a CatDrawing:

Main node representing drawing file. It will have the same name of the file. Nodes representing the different sheets which constitute a CatDrawing Nodes representing the different views which constitute a drawing sheet. As a distinction, the active view will be underlined in the tree.

Detail sheets will have a distinctive symbol in order to be different from the others. Furthermore, symbol of the views containing it, will be also different. Tree will be activated or deactivated: Hitting F3 key Using View + Specifications From the tree, it will be possible to manage the different views using the menu which is displayed if right-clicking (it will be also displayed positioning over the view background). This menu can copy and paste views or delete and send views to No show, etc.

5 CREATION OF D RAWING VIEWS

It will be possible to create views which have no relation with space and views which obtain geometric information from space elements. New View tool will be used to create view without relation with space, selecting icon Drawing tool bar. from

View in relation with space files will be those which contain projections of solids. They will be created using tools of Views bar. Space file will be necessarily open in case of solid geometry projection. The following paragraphs describe process to create these views, that are: Main views (front, right and left). Isometric views. Auxiliary views. Partial section and break views. Section views. Detail view.

5.1 MAIN VIEWS

The main views (front-rear, right-left, top-button) will be created following these general steps: First, creating front view. From this view, the rest of the main views will be created.

Projections tool bar will be used, after spreading first icon in Views tool bar:

Front view: follow these steps: Select icon from Projections tool bar (after spreading first icon in Views tool bar). Select projection plane of the view from the space.

7 DIMENSIONING. TOLERANCES
This chapter details the process to follow to dimension drawing views and to indicate dimension tolerances as well as geometric. Therefore, it will define what characteristics can be set and execution. Furthermore, it details process to follow for managing and modifying dimensions.

7.1 CREATION OF A UTOMATIC DIMENSIONS

Dimension automatic generation tools will not be used for dimensioning views. Therefore, this paragraph will describe generically how every single tool works but without focussing on the creation process. Automatic creation of dimensions will be performed using Generation bar tool. Drawing dimensions are generated in a single step. The most representative views are dimensioned. They offer us the possibility of performing a visual analysis of constraints (in the space) and drawing dimensions. There is another tool in Generation bar similar to the aforementioned, but with the possibility of managing dimension generation time. Icon of this tool will be as follows:

7.2 MANUAL CREAT ION OF DIMENSIONS

This paragraph will define: Tooling bar used for manual creation of dimensions. Dimension types and steps . Characteristics of dimensions which can be defined during the process of creation.
