Stanningtons Olympic Challenge

Could you take part in Stanningtons Olympic Challenge? Could you help cover part of the distances?
The challenge is for each class to cover a distance of 34km or 21 miles in swimming; 573km or 356 miles in cycling and 297km or 184 miles either running or walking. All you have to do is write down on a piece of paper how far you ran, swam or cycled and pop it, together with the name of the person who covered the distance, into the box beside our Olympic Challenge board in the hall, and I will keep counting up the distances covered per class. The thing that makes it even better is that people at home, like Mum, Dad, big brother, small sister etc, can also take part and help towards covering your class total. You must have your parents permission to do this and must always think about safety, for instance, wear a helmet when cycling and think about the route you are cycling on. Work in groups rather than alone and be mindful of other vehicles. When walking, running or cycling, always ensure you have some bright clothes on. Distance covered on cycling or running machines also count towards the final total. Walking/running might include lots of one mile walks with the dog which soon add up! You have until Wednesday 27th June to complete this challenge (one month before the opening ceremony of The 2012 Olympics which is on 27th July 2012). Please remember to put the persons name on, even if it is Grandad, who covered the distance so that the person who covered the most distance for each category in each class will receive a certificate and I would love to receive any photographs that you have of you, or family members, carrying out this challenge. Enjoy the challenge!
