CONVERSION OF ARC AND TIME

In the first column of each pair in this table are contained angular measures expressed in arc
(degrees, minutes or seconds) and in the second column the corresponding angles expressed in
time (hours, minutes or seconds). As will be seen from the headings of columns, the time
corresponding to degrees () is given in hours and minutes; to minutes of arc () in minutes and
seconds of time and to seconds of arc () in seconds and sixtieth of a second of time.
In most instances, the close accuracy of converting 1/60 of a second of arc into time or 1/60 of
time into arc is seldom, if ever, required.

Note: When turning seconds of arc into time and vice versa, it should be remembered that the fractions are sixtieths;
therefore the value of 42 is not 2.48 seconds but 2 48/60 or 2 4.8/6 seconds and equal to 2.8 seconds.
