Dear Senator: On behalf of more than 92,000 Americans for Prosperity-Florida activists, we urge you to support S.B. 1718, when it comes to the floor for a vote. This vote will be recorded in our 2012 session legislative scorecard. S.B. 1718, the Parent Empowerment Act sponsored by Senator Lizbeth Benaquisto, will allow parents to have greater input in the education of their children. This good bill will permit parents of students at underperforming public schools to petition for their childs school to enact a school improvement plan. S.B. 1718 will provide parents, with children in the lowest performing schools in Florida, with the tools to ensure that their children receive the best education possible. This will ensure that failing schools and underperforming teachers are held accountable. It is vital to the future success of our students that parents are given control over their childrens education. S.B. 1718 bill will do just that, and provide students stuck in failing schools an opportunity for educational success. Again, we urge you to vote in favor of S.B. 1718 when it comes to a vote. Sincerely,

Slade OBrien State Director Americans for Prosperity Florida

Abigail MacIver Director of Policy Americans for Prosperity Florida
