NARRATIVE

As an employee, I have agreed to engage in activities that will enhance the quality of the Substance Treatment Services program at Stout Street Clinic. One of my agreed upon goals is to attend graduate school. I have applied to the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Northern Colorado. If I am accepted, I intend to complete the program within three years. After this is completed, I will provide about 2500 hours of supervised counseling and then apply to be a Licensed Professional Counselor. If I am not accepted, I plan to apply to the University of Northern Colorados masters program in Educational Psychology. If accepted I will attend classes for two years. After completing the program, I would sit for the LAC exam, and become a Licensed Addictions Counselor. I am also currently developing an art therapy curriculum that addresses addiction for the upcoming group entitled, Visual Journey. This group will explore the clients journey of addiction as a gift of wisdom, placing emphasis on Jungian archetypes, and the heros journey. The hero of this journey is the client. I intend for this method to empower the client and challenge his or her innate, self- defeating belief systems. I hope to use the above opportunities to develop my own private practice that employs Jungian ideas and creative forces to assist clients in transcending selfdestructive behaviors.
