Nokia Siemens Networks Radio Network Controller RNC2600 Scalable radio network control for dynamic traffic growth

The Nokia Siemens Networks RNC2600 is a scalable RNC for use in high capacity, high coverage, remote and indoor solutions. The RNC2600 provides up to 2.8 Gbps continuous throughput with balanced resource pooling. Easy SW-configurable capacity handling can be undertaken in three dimensions voice, data and connectivity. The RNC2600 has the best traffic-load sharing in the market and is based on a field-proven platform. It is also future-proof for traffic explosion and HW-ready for HSPA evolution and native IP.
Scalable RNC for all situations The Nokia Siemens Networks Radio Network Controller RNC2600 meets the growing capacity and connectivity needs of mobile voice and data services. Maximizing the use of costly site space, our RNC2600 provides best capacity per footprint ratio. Capacity up to 2839 Mbit/s can be achieved with just two 600 x 600 mm cabinets. The RNC2600 offers capacity on demand through software license keys, providing full flexibility to scale capacity at finest granularity, per one Cell, one MBit/s, or one Erl. It also provides advanced monitoring statistics to follow traffic growth to forecast possible needs for capacity upgrade. Capacity extension costs are minimized due to easy centralized license handling.

Ready for data explosion with HSPA The Nokia Siemens Networks RNC2600 is designed to meet the high data needs that new services require to provide an excellent broadband experience. As mobile internet usage grows with flat-fee tariffing, the RNC2600 supports high numbers of always-on users with increased HSDPA and HSUPA data performance. It is also prepared for future traffic growth as its hardware is ready for HSPA evolution. Balanced capacity for optimal performance The Nokia Siemens Networks RNC2600 has the best capacity performance due to optimized resource pooling. Traffic patterns in 3G networks are dynamically changing. Data and voice dominate at different times and in different areas. Our RNC2600 distributes user plane and control plane traffic over all resources in order to maximize resource utilization. Efficient resourcepooling enables maximum capacity utilization regardless of how traffic is distributed in the network. Transport Solutions Meeting the ever-growing need for more capacity, the Nokia Siemens Networks RNC2600 provides costefficient connectivity with both native IP and ATM. RNC2600 transport capacity can be flexibly allocated across the interfaces to base stations, other RNCs and the core network nodes. Free combination of IP and ATM usage allows efficient usage of existing transport solutions while providing an easy solution for developing transport towards full IP connectivity. Any transport network requirements can be met with costefficient Nokia Siemens Networks backhaul solutions.

Reliable service under all conditions The Nokia Siemens Networks RNC2600 is based on a field-proven platform with a design that prevents RNC resources from becoming overloaded. If the unit load reaches 100%, additional traffic attempting to connect to the network is blocked, while existing connected users are retained. This prevents overload and ensures that current users do not suffer dropped calls, eliminating a potential cause of churn. The controller ensures excellent service availability, with 2N, N+1 and SN+ redundancy mechanisms. High redundancy also simplifies software upgrades, minimizing switchover time for greater reliability during live upgrades. Main benefits
