Victim of fiery crash identified Lower Mainland District: The victim of a fiery crash on Hwy #5 north of Hope BC on Sunday

April 29, 2012 at 5:40 am has been identified as a 44 year old male resident of Nanaimo BC. The drivers identity will not be released at this time pending further discussion with the victims family. It has been confirmed that the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. The driver had been traveling southbound on Highway #5 in a clock-wise curvature in the roadway. Partway through this curvature, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the right side ditch striking the concrete support pillar for the overpass. Primary investigation reveals that weather and road conditions do not appear to have been contributing factors in this crash. The RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services, the Office of the Provincial Coroner and the Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Section are continuing their investigations. Should anyone have witnessed this crash or observed a similar southbound Ford pickup truck in this immediate area at the time of the crash, they are asked to contact the lead investigator Constable Gord Standcumbe of the RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services at 604-702-4039.
