1st Quarter 2012

Dear Praying Brethren, Greetings! The first three months of 2012 possess a great challenge to us and also brought some surprises. We would like to ask your prayers for one of our first baptized believers. Her name is Rotha. She was brought by her sister to study English with us two years ago. She shows faithfulness in studying Gods word and attending our activities until her mother forbade her to come to our place and threatened her that she will take her life if she will continue coming to our place. We advised her to follow her mom but to continue on listening to Gods word thru internet. We believe that its just a test in her new found faith; especially that she followed the Lord in water baptism last August. Our four Cambodian foster youth are doing well in their classes except for our eight year old girl. We could see how the Lord our God changes the lives of these kids. We are pleased to see them doing household chores joyfully and their spiritual disciplines every morning. Joseph and San John are in grade seven and consistent honor students in their class. Sammy is a consistent top three in his class while Hannah his sister seems to be slower in her class, especially in reading. Nevertheless, we rejoice over the fact that she is good in memorizing short English sentences and fond of using them every day. San John, Joseph, Ury, Sammy, Srey Pao & Hanna Ury is doing great. He teaches English and computers. He is also our driver and utility man. We could not imagine of how we are going to do the work without him. His passion for evangelizing his own people is indeed remarkable. He is undergoing discipleship with the other youth who are staying with us. We envision of having him as one of the future leaders of the church in Bavet. Last March, were honored, privileged and encouraged to be visited by our PABWE Board chairman Rev. Rector Cadayday (Doane Baptist Seminary President) and acting PABWE Board secretary Rev. Ed Rayos (Pastor of New Life Baptist Church, Tacloban City, Phils.). Pastor and Mrs. Nelson de Jesus with relatives from Davao City visited us also. Our recent visitors were the Monteclaros; Engr. Bebot, Menchie, Kim with Peter (one of our first disciples in Poipet who studied at BBSI last school year). We appreciate your coming and looking forward for future visits. Youre all a blessing to us. Thank you for praying for our need of a kitchen. Some funds have come specifically for it. Please continue to pray for our need of a table tennis set for our student center. Art & Malou Bastes Missionaries to Cambodia since 98
