Continuing Education Program Sponsored by Catholic Charities Jelena Mujanovic DIVERSITY TRAINING

Course Description
This presentation defines diversity and how it impacts our workplace. Participants will explore the meaning of culture, become more aware of diversity within cultures, and learn how to resolve cultural misunderstandings. This workshop will help participants see others points of view and will provide strategies to help individuals work together while also respecting each others culture and customs. This training benefits all staff. ALL staff, regardless of role, should participate in Diversity Training at least one time during their tenure at Catholic Charities.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Attendees are eligible to submit documentation and a $10 fee (check or money order only) to receive 2.5 contact hours and .25 Continuing Education Units from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Social Work. This fee must be submitted at the time of the workshop.

Presenter
Jelena Mujanovic serves as Director of Language Access Metro Project, (LAMP), a program of Catholic Family Services, where she has worked for the past 8 years as Interpreter, Team Leader, Community Outreach Coordinator, and Cultural Diversity Trainer. Jelena, a Bosnian refugee, arrived to St. Louis with her family in July of 1996. Since then she has actively volunteered in the St. Louis community and has worked as a Mental Health Interpreting Trainer at St. Louis Community College. She is a licensed trainer for Bridging the Gap, a nationally recognized training course for medical interpreters. Ms. Mujanovic has conducted trainings in cultural diversity for the National Childrens Study.
